About

The Black River is our island’s most navigable river and is very important to The Great Morass wetland’s ecosystem. At more than 33 miles long, the Black River derives its name from its dark color due to layers of vegetation and is home to a complex ecosystem that thrives in a damp, tropical climate.

The Great Morass is Jamaica’s largest surviving wetland and at 125 square miles, taking a boat tour along the swamp’s main waterway is the best way to experience it. The Black River Safari in Jamaica includes a 90-minute scenic ride up and down the river with a local guide showcasing the true beauty of the island. Explore towering mangrove trees and lush plant life, while surrounded by rare swamp animals, like the endangered American crocodile sunning alongside the banks or over 100 species of birds in their natural habitat. Look out for whistling ducks, egrets and cinnamon-coloured jacanas and spot for local fishermen catching crabs on long and thin, traditional canoes.

Local tip: Midday tours are the best for spotting crocs; the early and later hours are best for bird-watching

Itinerary

This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Jamwest Motorsports & Adventure Park (Home of Jamwest Speedway), Old Hope, Little London, Jamaica

Make your stay in Jamaica even more exciting and drive an ATV! Travel through acres of tropical woodland, witness lush green flora and drive along a beautiful beach trail on white sand and the marvelous turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea as the backdrop.

Head out to the location where your tour will start in comfortable transportation. Once there, your guide will give you a short lesson on safety and on how to operate the vehicle; you will be driving the latest ATV model which ensures comfort and safety! Afterwards, get a little practice with some laps, and then, you’ll be ready to begin this incredible adventure.

Discover the stunning coast of Negril differently, speed down the trails, and admire the fantastic landscapes of this marvelous island, feel the wind all over you as you traverse roughed paths under the warm sun of Jamaica. Go on an adventure and enjoy the excitement of driving your very own ATV vehicle in Jamaica.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Seven Mile Beach, Negril Jamaica

Seven Mile Beach is much more than a chill on the sand and dip in the water experience; on these shores you can have an experience that is as laid-back, or as amped up as you desire. And by amped up we mean that Seven Mile Beach is also party central, so depending on what part of Seven Mile Beach Negril you decide to set up for the day you can expect lots of music, food, and drinks flowing in abundance. You can also bring along your own snacks and drinks, but if you don’t, you’ll still have plenty of options for dining, from casual to higher end.

At Seven Mile Beach, you won’t have any trouble finding somewhere to hangout; some spots come with lounge chairs where you can chill. Unlike some of the other more secluded beaches on the island you’ll find restrooms and changing facilities. It is recommended that you use the ones in the more popular establishments which are usually better appointed, especially if you’re travelling with kids.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Rick’s Cafe, West End Road, Negril Jamaica

Rick’s Cafe draws locals and visitors alike for many reasons: live reggae music, delicious drinks, an incredible view of Negril’s famous sunsets, and, of course, Negril cliff diving. Any time of the day, you’ll notice people taking turns jumping off into the crystal clear water below. The lowest ledge is about 8 feet above the water while the highest is 40 feet. While you’re there, you may even see a daring local putting on a show as they climb to the tops of trees above the cliffs to dive off. Known as one of the best diving spots in the Caribbean, Rick’s was the first official public bar and restaurant in the area. Islanders have been coming to this property to eat and drink since 1974 and to dive long before then. Rick’s is still worth a visit, and jumping from the cliff’s here is a “right of passage” in Negril. Whether you experience the thrill of jumping yourself or take a front row seat to watch others take a dive, we suggest enjoying a drink while you take in the sunset.
